Heineken USA announced the appointment of Alison Payne as its new Chief Marketing Officer, with her tenure set to begin in January. Payne, a seasoned marketing executive, brings a wealth of experience from her role at Heineken’s global commerce leadership unit in Amsterdam. Her management of international brands like Birra Moretti, Edelweiss, Strongbow, and Sol, and her leadership of a team dedicated to enhancing global media, marketing capabilities, and commercial effectiveness, make her a formidable addition.
Returning to the U.S., Payne will join Heineken USA’s management team. Her appointment follows the departure of Jonnie Cahill, a respected figure who has served as Heineken USA’s marketing lead since 2018 and guided the brand through significant industry shifts, including the rise of zero-alcohol beer. Payne’s arrival marks a new chapter in her marketing journey.
In addition to her recent accomplishments, Payne has an impressive background in consumer marketing. She has worked with major names such as PepsiCo, Kellogg, and Diageo, where she was instrumental in revitalizing Heineken’s Mexican beverage portfolio, including brands like Dos Equis.
Heineken USA has focused on fostering social connections and encouraging consumers to “unplug” with campaigns that include the launch of Heineken 0.0, a popular non-alcoholic option, and other creative marketing stunts. As the brand navigates the challenges of a shifting market, Payne’s leadership is expected to bring fresh perspectives and continued innovation.
